Artist and Activist Lloyd Oxendine (1942-2015)
Worked to Promote Native American Art
By: - Aug 18th, 2015The Lumbee Indian, Lloyd Oxendine, who died on August 5, held a BA in art history from Columbia where he also earned an MFA. From 1970-78 he ran a New York gallery dedicated to Native American Art. In 1972 he wrote what proved to be most of an issue of Art in American surveying 23 artists. For many years he was a brilliant and outspoken activist.

Rikki Rudd at 102
Beloved by Berkshire Arts Community
By: - Oct 07th, 2015A small but growing increment live to be 100. Rikki Rudd, who was known and loved by many in the Berkshires arts community, passed away on October 6 at the age of 102. She emigrated from Denmark to the U.S. when in her 20s. She pursued journalism after study at Columbia University. That led to world travel and mastery of several languages. To celebrate her 90th birthday she took up sky diving. On every level she lived life to the full.

A Confederacy of Dunces Slated for World Premiere
Creative Team Dicusses Production for Huntington Theatre Company

Recently the creative team- adapter Jeffrey Hatcher, director David Esbjornson, and actor Nick Offerman- met with the media to discuss the production for Boston's Huntington Theatre Company. The comedy will run from November 11 through December 13.

The meeting was arranged by Jack Lyons, a California critic and friend of the actor's family. In a cramped dressing room we were joined by Florida based critic William Hirschman. This resulted in a lively, insightful discussion of the show and its unique casting which is causing a paradigm shift for Broadway musicals.

He set the highest standards for industrial design in the latter half of the 20th Century and the early 21st Century.

Rothstein will receive the $10,000 award check immediately and be officially congratulated at an upcoming ATCA conference. Jointly sponsored by ATCA and the Francesca Ronnie Primus Foundation, the Primus Prize is given annually to an emerging woman playwright.

Berkshire Fine Arts, LLC Launches Total Gonzo Poems

Berkshire Fine Arts, LLC announces the publication of two books Shards of a Life and Total Gonzo Poems by Berkshire poet and arts critic Charles Giuliano. In July, 1970 he coined the word gonzo while telling an outrageous story. He was the first to publish gonzo in a rock review that summer for the former daily Boston Herald Traveler. With these two books and a third nearing completion Giuliano has morphed gonzo journalism into a vibrant, hip, compelling form of cutting edge poetry.

Michael Bernardi Discusses Fiddler on the Roof
Filling His Father Herschel's Boots an Original Tevye on Broadway
By: - May 19th, 2016Michael Bernardi lost his father, Herschel, when he was not yet two. Still, for much of his life, he has sensed his father’s presence. His father played Tevye on Broadway over three years and 702 performances, beginning in 1965. The younger Bernardi is currently playing Mordcha in the Tony nominated Broadway revival of Fiddler on the Roof.
