Vaccine Scene

When we were kids
Mom used to jab us
Chasing sister Jo
Racing through the house
Locked in the bathroom
In our best interest
We got everything
As well as vitamins
Grew up mostly healthy
How I miss my GP mom
Where is she today
When we really need her
Sleeve rolled up
Waiting for vaccine
Operation Warp Speed
Not yet it seems
Taking it slow drag
For me and thee
Politics as usual
Congress all in line
Poke, poke, poke
That's all folks
Thanks for the votes
Swamp dwellers
Us first then you
Who comes next
Front line health workers
Their ranks have thinned
True American heroes
Then devastated nursing homes
Seems only fair
Elderly and infirm
Me and me mates
Plus reprobates
Guards and prisoners
Covid hotspots
So it goes
Who after that
Most likely Pfizer
Falls off the truck
Hoods and the rich
One percenters
Shots for a price
The rich and famous
Rock and movie stars
Lord knows we need them
Everyone within
A mile of Mar y Lago
Seems only fair
Service is no secret
Republicans before Democrats
Stop making sense
Rich racists first in line
Just after rapists and serial killers
Doses for death row
Kept alive till they fry
Like cooking lobsters
Lunch specials on Wall Street
Comes with comped champagne
Screw the liberals
Upper middle class
Months from now
Lumpen proletariat
Chefs, bar tenders and waiters
Eventually a lottery
Like the draft
Passport for ID
America first and always
Of course Undocumented
Homeless and urban poor
Need not try
Plum out of luck
Mississippi Goddam
Born in the USA
