Girth and Mirth

Getting uplifted for the holidays

can be an elevating experience 

A festive party at the mill

makes me choose, elevator or stairs

The first slow and claustrophoic

The other a breathless ordeal

Social pretense makes me balk

Self absorbed small talk and a drink

Sets me up but brings me down

Then

What the fuck just my luck

it gets stuck

That’s why solid earth

which holds my girth 

provides more mirth
