The Mount is closed for daily tours but we host special events every month. Visit Edithwharton.org for our calendar of events. The grounds are open, dawn to dusk, free of charge, November through April. We re-open for the season on Saturday, May 13.

Stone Court Writer in Residence Reading with Phoebe Bright

Stone Court Writer-In-Residence Phoebe Bright will read from her recent works, including a linked short story collection that follows three generations of a family living in Oregon's western Cascades. There will be an opportunity for questions and conversation following the program, along with a reception.

Leisure & Lust is a psychological journey through the ravages of poverty and the oppressions of affluence. This is the story of Grace Hunter, a brilliant woman with a hunger for romance, and her tortured husband Harry, a closeted man rapidly losing his grip on reality. This piece is inspired by Edith Wharton’s life and writing style. Leisure & Lust is an immersive theater experience. The play is site-specific to The Mount and will be performed live in its rooms.
