Get ready to immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of East Boston’s artistic community at “Harboring Creativity,” an exhilarating two-day art event happening for its second year at the iconic ICA Watershed on November 16 and 17, 2024, from 11 AM to 4 PM with a reception on Saturday from 4pm – 6pm with food donated by local restaurants.
This dynamic event will feature the work of over 40 local emerging and established artists who live, work, or create in East Boston. From painting, photography and prints to mixed media, jewelry and sculpture, this presentation is a powerful reflection of the
creativity and innovation that defines East Boston.
Not only will attendees have the chance to admire the artwork, but artists will also be selling their art, providing a unique opportunity for visitors to take home a piece of East Boston’s vibrant art scene. Additionally, there will be ongoing artist talks throughout the
event, allowing guests to engage directly with the creators and gain deeper insight into their work and artistic processes.
Located in the heart of the Boston Shipyard and Marina at 256 Marginal Street, the ICA Watershed provides the perfect backdrop for this extraordinary showcase. Whether you’re an art lover, a collector, or simply curious, “Harboring Creativity” offers a unique opportunity to connect with the vibrant local art scene and discover the incredible talent
that thrives in our community.
In addition to the diverse array of artwork on display, the event will feature a special screening of Hoopla Productions’ latest documentary, Abre tu Corazón: Historias de Imigrantes de Boston y Más Allá, adding a compelling cinematic dimension to the weekend, as well as some short films by Alberto Roblest, an EBAG member.
Reflecting on the success of last year’s event, Kristen Freitas, an EBAG member, shared, “The event last year was humbling. Receiving feedback from the local community on the work you’ve put your heart and soul into creating was the highlight for me. It was great to connect with our EBAG community in a different space as well.” This free event is open to all, making it a must-attend for anyone looking to experience the very best of East Boston’s creative spirit.
About the East Boston Artists Group (EBAG):
Founded in 2000, the East Boston Artists Group (EBAG) is a thriving community of
artists located in historic East Boston, a growing and vibrant arts destination. As a pioneering neighborhood arts organization, EBAG is proud to support local artists and to be a vital part of East Boston’s burgeoning arts scene.
“Our very first exhibits, hosted by ZUMIX, emphasized that East Boston is more than just an airport—it’s a community,” said June Krinsky-Rudder, one of EBAG’s co-founders. “Starting from humble beginnings in artists’ living rooms, we’ve grown into a cornerstone of the local arts
scene, helping to put Eastie on the cultural map. It’s exciting to have the ICA Watershed partnering with EBAG to share our art in their beautiful space, connecting us with East Boston’s history and its future.”
Our members represent a diverse array of backgrounds and artistic disciplines, and through events like this one, exhibits and collaborations with other local cultural organizations, we seek multiple ways in which to showcase the incredible talent within and beyond our neighborhood.
