AUTUMN LINEUP
THE KNIGHTS OUTDOOR CONCERT
September 5, 4 pm
Fernández Terrace
In celebration of the exhibition An Exquisite Eye: Introducing the Aso O. Tavitian Collection, the orchestra’s program highlights Armenian folk songs composed by Komitas that celebrate the collector Aso O. Tavitian’s heritage. The exuberance continues with compositions by Antonín Dvorák, Chen Yi, and Colin Jacobsen’s A Short While to Be Here.
Free. Bring a picnic and your own seating. Rain moves the performance indoors to the Manton Research Center auditorium.

THE KNIGHTS FAMILY CONCERT
September 6, 11 am
Manton Research Center auditorium
Delight in a family-friendly concert featuring folk music influences from North America, Ireland, Armenia, China, and more. The Knights collaborate with Play Out, an organization founded by Caitlin Sullivan that creates interactive performances for all ages. Designed specifically for younger audiences and their parents and caregivers, this concert provides a fun, engaging introduction to classical music and features live drawing video projections by Colombian artist Jorge Carvajal.
Free. Advance registration required. Accessible seats available.

JAZZ IN THE BERKSHIRES FESTIVAL
September 13, 11 am–2:30 pm

The inaugural Williamstown Jazz Festival, September 11–13, offers three days of world-class music, including a performance at the Clark on Sunday, September 13 by three exceptional bands with regional ties: Berkshire County Youth Jazz Ensembles, the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) Jazz Band, and Richard Stanmeyer, a Boston-based trumpet player and composer.

CONCERT: FLORE LAURENTIENNE
September 18, 7 pm

Canadian instrumental project Flore Laurentienne, a pioneer of electronic chamber music, returns to the Clark. Led by composer and keyboardist Mathieu David Gagnon, Flore Laurentienne combines a string ensemble with synthesizers, conjuring striking emotional landscapes that reference diverse influences, from Johann Sebastian Bach to King Crimson. A unique mixture of new and old shapes this transformative performance.

COASTLINES CLOSING CONCERT: CAMDEN ARCHAMBEAU AND UMI GARRETT

This program explores sounds inspired by depictions of the sea, with artistic movements from the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, inspired by the talents of American artists Winslow Homer, Thomas Moran, and James McNeill Whistler. Camden Archambeau (cello) and Umi Garrett (piano) play four compositions dedicated to these themes.

THE MET: LIVE IN HD
October 3 & 17, 1 pm

The Met: Live in HD, the Metropolitan Opera’s award-winning series of live high-definition simulcasts, returns to the Clark for another stellar season. Broadcasts feature the full performance along with backstage interviews and commentary.

PERFORMING ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE CONCERT
October 18, 2 pm
Michael Conforti Pavilion
Jeewon Park (piano) and Edward Arron (cello), artistic directors of the Clark’s Performing Artists in Residence program, are joined by exceptional collaborators for an inspirational afternoon of musical artistry.
Tickets $25 ($20 members). Tickets for college students are available at no cost. All ticket sales are non-refundable. A public reception in the Clark Center lower lobby follows the event.
This performance is presented through the generous support of the Sea Island Foundation. Jeewon Park performs on a Steinway & Sons piano, provided through a special arrangement with the firm.
TAVITIAN CONCERT: NINETEENTH-CENTURY CARICATURE
November 7, 2 pm

Pianist David Kaplan, acclaimed for his Robert Schumann interpretations, curates a recital exploring musical caricature, inspired by the newly acquired portrait sculptures by Jean-Pierre Dantan (part of the Aso O. Tavitian Collection). Kaplan juxtaposes Schumann’s musical portraits of Frédéric Chopin, Clara Wieck, and others with music by several of Dantan’s subjects—Johann Strauss, Sigismond Thalberg, and Franz Liszt. Renowned music historian Jan Swafford introduces the program, placing these works in the context of nineteenth-century Romanticism.
