Staged Reading of St, Germain Play
The Magdalene in Pittsfield
By: Barringtom - Aug 17, 2024
Barrington Stage Company will present a staged reading of The Magdalene, a new play by Associate Artist Mark St. Germain, on Sunday September 1 at 3:00pm at the St. Germain Stage at the Sydelle and Lee Blatt Performing Arts Center (36 Linden Street, Pittsfield).
Directed by Founding Artistic Director Julianne Boyd (BSC’s Faith Healer, Boeing Boeing), The Magdalene features Brittany Bradford (The Comeuppance, HBO’s Julia) and Joe Joseph (BTG’s Pipe Dream).
Eighteen years after the death of Christ, Peter seeks out Mary Magdalene, whom he banished after the crucifixion. Peter needs an ally against a self-proclaimed Apostle angling for power in the growing church. In The Magdalene, St. Germain offers a startling new look at two historical figures and the clash that impacts the course of Christianity.
BSC has presented 17 plays by Associate Artist and Founding Board Member Mark St. Germain including this season’s Forgiveness, The Happiest Man on Earth, Freud’s Last Session, Dr. Ruth, All The Way, The Best of Enemies, Dancing Lessons, Camping with Henry and Tom, Typhoid Mary and Eleanor.
Tickets are $35. Call 413-236-8888 or online at Barrington Stage Company. All ticket proceeds go directly to the Julianne Boyd New Works Fund in Celebration of Barrington Stage’s 30th Anniversary Season.
