Creatures of the watery world
Coming from the sea
Eons ago
Fish crawling onto land
Learning to breathe
Eventually stand
Killing for food
Then each other
For greed
And pleasure
The ocean is in us
Our warm blood
Saline solution
Urge to return
Primal flow
The watery depths
Surging within
Walking the beach
Joy on her face
Astrid who grew up
Near the Elbe
Breathing the briny air
Seemingly never
More at peace
