Blue Heron Gallery Online, a virtual art gallery, will be presenting the art of New York artist Robert Morgan beginning at noon on Sunday, April 11 2021. The show, appearing on www.blueherongallery.online, will feature his paintings, and present the artist in photographs and his Artist Statement.
Born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, Morgan’s early interest in art was fueled by the rich traditions of the Berkshires/Hudson Valley region. After residing in Buenos Aires, London, Boston, and San Francisco among other places, he returned to the area of his youth. He now lives in the Taconic Mountains of Petersburgh, NY, with his artist wife Pennie Brantley.
Morgan was featured in a major retrospective at the Borges Cultural Center in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In the exhibition catalog, Ed Shaw, one of South America’s foremost art critics, said: “Morgan is an anachronism in today's art world. Cloaked in classical garb, his work requires a pause from zapping and deserves the effort of a second glance. For those who are willing to share his search, he takes aim at clarifying those obscure mysteries which make life so tantalizing.”
The show will present a variety of his work in varnished watercolor on paper on canvas. Each piece will be available for purchase directly from the show online, which runs through May 11. Pieces purchased will be shipped to the buyers.

The gallery is the creation and work of Michael McGrath, a former web designer and developer who earned Webby Award recognition for work in 2005.
A recent transplant to North Adams by way of a small Daoist temple in central China, he saw an opportunity to serve the rich artist community in the northern Berkshires by offering an online art gallery for both showing and selling their work. With sticks-and-bricks galleries shut down still by Covid-19 and quarantine, artists had no outlet for their work, and the need for a safe yet full venue arose.
The virtual gallery’s first three shows, “Still Standing Standing Still,” featuring North Adams artist Galen Cheney, and “Getting Loud In A Quiet Way,” featuring Boston artist Peter McGrath, and “Time Flies Like an Arrow, featuring North Adams artist Chalice Mitchell, were successful during their thirty days each, and saw visitor traffic from 36 states in the US, and 28 countries from all over the world, that averaged nearly 75 people per day viewing their art. Sales have been generated from Gallery’s shows.
Gallery shows are presently booked through June, 2021, and news of future shows is regularly updated on the gallery website www.blueherongallery.online.
McGrath also offers support services to artists through the gallery, including website design and development, and recently launched a new website that was developed for first show artist Galen Cheney - www.galencheney.com.
