A Tango Diary at Berkshires Six Depot Gallery

More than 175 people attended Six Depot Gallery in West Stockbridge last Friday for the opening of "A Tango Diary," photos of dancers and would-be dancers from South America to the Berkshires.
The images were taken in Argentina, Brazil, and the United States -- including Pittsfield and Northhampton -- over the past ten years by Sabine Vollmer von Falken, a Stockbridge-based photographer.
After gallery-goers enjoyed the photographs, they were taught the Argentine tango by Jackie L. Wong, an instructor from Tangopulse of Lenox. Guests danced into to the evening to The Milonga, a popular Argentinian song and form of tango music.
Sabine is known not only for her skills at portraiture, but an ability to tell stories through photographs in a documentary style. The thought-provoking images have appeared in numerous publications and books. She has created personal statements about people and places for over 40 years. Her photographs reveal the emotional core of her subjects. With recognition as both a commercial and fine art photographer, she has earned a special place in the photographic arts, in the Berkshires and beyond.

The gallery is attached to Six Depot Roastery and Cafe on Depot Street in West Stockbridge. The gallery is a space, where one can read, write, and experience the arts.
The photographic show will be on view until February 15, 2014
